Auto executives raise $2 million for charity
Auto executives and others raised about $2 million Saturday at the Cattle Baron's Ball, a fund-raiser for the American Cancer Society.
General Motors Corp. sponsored the event, held at the State Fairgrounds Coliseum in Detroit. Proceeds from the Western-themed ball will pay for local cancer efforts conducted by the Great Lakes Division of the American Cancer Society. General Motors North America President Gary Cowger and his wife, Kay, were chairpersons of the ball. Country music star Reba McEntire performed, and guests had the opportunity to take their chances on a mechanical bull. There were silent and live auctions.
