Family Group Picks 'Joan Of Arcadia' Best TV Show
Group Rates 'Everwood' TV's Worst
LOS ANGELES -- A parents group that pushes for "positive, family-oriented television" has picked "Joan of Arcadia" as the best family show on TV.
"Doc" ranks second, followed by a PAX TV show called "Sue Thomas F.B. Eye." "Reba" and "7th Heaven" round out the top five on the list compiled by the Parents Television Council.
The PTC is generally critical of most television programming. According to its Web site:
"The gratuitous sex, foul language, and violence on TV (along with stories and dialogue that create disdain for authority figures, patriotism, and religion) are having a negative effect on children."
The series "Everwood" was named the worst show on TV because of what the group calls the "careless and irresponsible treatment of sexual issues." "That 70s Show" was named the second worst show, followed by "Fear Factor," "Two and a Half Men" and "CSI."
